Dover girls beat Varnum

Dover continued to put off elimination Thursday as it advanced in its Class B area tournament.The Lady Longhorns knocked Varnum out of the playoffs with a 4938 victory in their area consolation quarterfinal in Seminole.Dover has now reached the Friday of area for three consecutive years.

Sheppard, Scruggs earn state wins

Two Kingfisher County wrestlers moved past the wrestle-in stage at the Class 3A state tournament.Kingfisher’s Jaxon Sheppard earned his first career state victory Thursday at State Fair Arena as he won a high-scoring showdown with Vinita’s Kolbe Bargas.Sheppard earned a 2015 decision over Bargas.

HHS boys advance, girls sent to consolation round

Camdyn Richardson and Hagen Copeland combined to maroon Perry’s season.The Hennessey duo combined for 41 points Thursday as the Eagles downed Perry 57-39 in a Class 3A regional consolation quarterfinal at the Eagle Event Center.The Eagles’ season is extended at least one more game.

Hamil, Davis make history at state

Rylee Hamil and Roman Davis made history for their respective programs.More history will have to wait.Kingfisher’s Hamil and Cashion’s Davis were the first female wrestlers for their respective schools to qualify for the state tournament.

Where to find playoff results

Entering Friday, all 12 Kingfisher County basketball teams were still alive in their respective playoff brackets.That is likely to change on Friday and Saturday, though several should still be vying for spots at state.Classes B, A and 2A will punch their tickets to state over this weekend.

Hennessey girls remain in winner’s bracket

A second quarter eruption propelled the Hennessey girls into the winner’s bracket of this week’s regional tournament.The Lady Eagles outscored Blackwell by 15 in that frame Friday night en route to a 54-32 victory in their Class 3A district championship game at the Eagle Event Center.
