There is a wall of names at the northwest end of the Kingfisher APB that lists every Yellowjacket wrestler who has ever qualified for state.It’s time to add a new one…the first female name, to be more specific.

Parham leads Okarche to win

A breakout performance by Katie Parham gave the Okarche Lady Warriors a three-game win streak to end their regular season.Parham scored 33 points Tuesday night as Okarche overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to down rival Cashion 54-52 on the road.

Woodward’s Gaines equals KHS boys’ loss in rematch

The Woodward Boomers continued their trend as one of the hottest teams in Class 4A and Kadon Gaines once again showed he’s one of the top freshmen in the state.Unfortunately, it came at the expense of the Kingfisher Yellowjackets.

Woodward attempted to guard Kingfisher with a man-to-man defense for much of the first half on Tuesday.It didn’t go well, nor did much of the rest of the night as KHS cruised to a 61-39 victory at the APB.Feasting on that manto- man was senior Raegan Snider.

Otey, Santoyo are wrestling royalty

Taygen Otey was crowned the queen and Jose Santoyo the captain Tuesday night when Kingfisher High School celebrated its 2025 wrestling homecoming.The two were announced in front of a large crowd at the Heritage gymnasium prior to KHS taking on Bridge Creek in both girls and boys duals.

Warriors check the boxes with win at Cashion

Perfection has been achieved.Now the tough part begins.Okarche completed the rarely-attained undefeated regular season last Tuesday with an 84-66 victory at Cashion.It served as a double-dip for the Warriors.

Hennessey doubles up over the weekend

Hennessey was able to break its string of narrow defeats…only for the joy to be temporary.The Eagles visited Perry last Friday and came home with a 47-34 victory.It snapped a four-game skid, the last three of which were by a total of 10 points.

Lady Eagles too much for Pioneer

It was a quick night Monday for Hennessey basketball.The Lady Eagles dispatched of Pioneer-Pleasant Vale 49-21 for a road win.It was Hennessey’s third game in four days, but the boys can’t say the same.

Seiling wins battle of No. 1; Raiders grab 2 wins

Lomega had another comeback fall short.This time it was against the reigning Class A state champ Seiling.In a showdown between the No. 1 team in Class A and the No. 1 team in Class B, the Ladycats held off Lomega’s rally Saturday to preserve a 47-43 victory.
