Please join us for a celebration of life in loving memory of William Joseph Jindra - aka Bill, Billy Joe, BJ, Buddha, Pops and Poppa - at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Kingfisher Elks Lodge South Room.

The eulogy will be given by his cousin, Pastor Thomas Branch, and we would love for anyone to share your stories of Bill with us as well.

There will be a light dinner served afterward and feel free to bring your favorite beverage to make a toast to a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by many.

William “Bill” Joseph Jindra was born March 15, 1947, to Frankie and Emmaline Thomsen Jindra.

He was raised on the family farm east of Kingfisher, which he proudly farmed all his life until his illness didn’t allow it anymore.

Bill attended Big Four School, graduating in 1965 and attended the University of Oklahoma and Southwestern Oklahoma State University for a short time.

He married Linda Layton on July 8, 1966, in Kingfi sher, and had two sons, Timmy and Barry Jindra.

Bill went to work for Pioneer Telephone Cooperative in 1965 and retired March 31, 2010.

Pioneer wasn’t just a place for him to work; it was part of his life and family history.

His father also worked for Pioneer. Bill was very proud that he helped build the company, starting as a lineman after leaving college and working his way up from there.

He built many long lasting friendships while working there.

Bill married Virginia Heskett on Nov. 16, 1991.

Bill was an avid fisherman and bird hunter. He attended the Walleye Rodeo at Canton Lake every year and he and Virginia eventually bought a cabin there and spent many hours walleye fishing with his family and friends.

He loved anything OU and watched all the games, especially football.

The Kingfisher Elks Lodge was important to Bill, just as it was to his father before him.

He held many officer positions over the years in-cluding Exalted Ruler.

Many hours were spent there discussing “business” with his Thomsen cousins and countless friends.

The Rother Brothers and Wolf Brothers group were also a large part of his life, and yes, “business” was always conducted while there.

Bill loved his children and grandchildren very much and was so proud of all they had accomplished. He may not have known how to say it, but it was evident in his actions.

Bill is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Tim Jindra and wife Kim of Kingfisher, Barry Jindra and wife Shelly of Kingfisher; three stepsons, Willie Heskett and wife Penny of Houston, Texas, Randy Heskett and wife De of Kingfisher, Ralf Heskett and wife Shelly of Kingfisher; four grandchildren, Jessica Jindra of Kingfisher, Scott Jindra of Yukon, Tori Castleberry and wife Taylor of Piedmont and Trevor Jindra of Mustang; eight step-grandchildren, Brandi Heskett, Kyah Heskett and Skyler Heskett of Houston, Dillon Heskett and wife Hannah of Oklahoma City, Allyson Heskett and fiancé Kenny Brueggen of Kingfisher, Shawna Ford of Lake Forrest, Calif., Tim and wife Tara of Groveland, Calif., Amber Pringle and husband Cory of Fairbanks, Alaska; 12 great-grandchildren Alijah Taylor, Devontae Taylor, Javon Heskett, Nana Heskett, Bryant Maes, Bella Pringle, Sophia Pringle, Laine Pringle, Heath Pringle, Olivia Durland, Hunter Durland and Reese Castleberry.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Kingfisher Elks Lodge, P.O. Box 444 Kingfisher, OK 73750.
