Kingfisher High School’s golf coaches said “thank you” to the Kingfisher Golf Association and Kingfisher Golf Course recently in the form of a check. Girls coach Audra Smalley, left, and boys coach Chris Combs, right, presented club pro Gary Wilson with a $500 check for efforts throughout the golf season. “Gary and the guys who take care of the course go out of their way to make this a great venue not only for our tournaments, but for postseason events as well,” said Combs. “A lot of teams want to be a part of our tournaments in large part to the work he does to make it a great event. We always want to show our appreciation to Gary, the course and the association for making the events possible.” The Kingfisher Golf Course now annually hosts four invitational tournaments - both large- and small-school events for boys and girls teams. On top of that, the course this year hosted a Class 3A boys regional qualifier, a Class 4A girls regional and a Class 2A boys regional during the postseason. “It’s a lot of work to put on those events,” Combs said. “It’s great to have a group so willing to make them happen.” [KT&FP Staff Photo]
