Geheb leads Okarche past Am-Po in opener
Lawson Geheb spoke loudly with her right arm and her bat.
Okarche got a win in its season opener to show for it.
Geheb allowed just one run over seven innings while accounting for four runs of her own as the Lady Warriors downed Amber-Pocasset 6-1 Monday in Okarche.
Working around a lightning delay, Geheb struck out eight Lady Panthers in her seven innings of work in the circle.
She allowed just six hits while walking only two batters. Am-Po didn’t manage a run until the sixth inning.
By then, Geheb had done enough on offense to assure her own victory.
She led off the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run. Two batters later, Callie Cramer duplicated the feat with a solo shot of her own.
Okarche added to it in the fourth inning when Geheb’s double scored Chesney Black, who had doubled, and Chloe Rother.
More run support came in the fourth when Kate Baustert scored on a wild pitch and Bella Hufnagel’s sacrifice fly brought home another run.
Okarche had six hits in the game.
Geheb had half of them as she also finished with 3 RBIs and the run scored.
Cramer scored twice and had an RBI as well while Rother was 1 for 3 with her run scored.
