Kingfisher capped an undefeated run over three days with a 5-3 victory against Tonkawa on Saturday in the finals of the Highway 81 Classic.

The trophy will intersect nicely with the Highway 33 Classic title the team won the week before as well as the Mia Tapia Memorial Tournament win earlier in the season.

The Lady Jackets racked up a 15-1 record in those three tournaments.

KHS went 5-0 in this tournament and is 16-2 on the season.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Lady Jackets took the lead for good in the bottom half.

Adlee Friesen led off with a triple and scored on Reese Roof’s groundout.

Kendall Farrar followed with a triple and scored on Kinlee East’s groundout.

Friesen and Roof added RBIs as KHS scored three more times in the second.

That was all the runs the Lady Jackets managed, but it was enough for Kennedy Stewart.

The right-hander pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up three runs while striking out three.

Kynlee Brunson grabbed the save with 1 1/3 inning of hitless work. She struck out one.

KHS had nine hits in the game, three by catcher Shelby Davis.

After two wins on Thursday (see our last weekend edition), KHS got victories of 6-0 over Blackwell and 9-2 against Hennessey on Friday.

Kingfisher and Blackwell were scoreless entering the fifth before KHS finally broke through.

Liliana Garramone reached on an error and then Callie Blair struck it big with her hit to centerfield.

The Maroon outfielder attempted to catch Blair’s hit, but couldn’t get to the ball in time and it rolled to the fence. Blair turned that into a two-run inside-thepark home run.

The Lady Jackets took advantage of two more errors in the seventh as well as a two-run double by Roof to push the lead to 6-0.

Kinlee East got the complete- game shutout as she scattered seven hits and struck out four.

The Lady Jackets didn’t wait as long to score against Hennessey as they plated runs in every at-bat of the five-inning game.

Kendall Farrar was 4 for 4 and scored three times. East had three hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Roof was 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and a pair of runs scored.

Stewart pitched all five innings, gave up five hits and struck out four.

Hennessey went 2-3 in the tournament.

It lost other pool play games to Blackwell (3-0) and Pioneer (4-3) while beating Ponca City JV (9-0).

In Saturday’s game, the Lady Eagles downed Timberlake 8-5.
