Kingfisher still has a chance to make its first-ever softball super regional.

But it won’t be easy. The Lady Jackets went 2-1 in their Class 4A regional games Thursday at Plainview.

KHS sandwiched wins of 11-0 and 11-1 over Pauls Valley with a 5-1 defeat to the top-seeded host team.

But after that loss, the Lady Jackets remained alive in the regional with their second run rule win of the day against Pauls Valley.

That put Kingfisher into Friday’s regional championship against Plainview (after press time).

KHS needed two wins against the Lady Indians to win the regional while Plainview needs just one victory.

Kinlee East did her best to make sure Kingfisher got off to a solid start.

The junior allowed only one hit in five innings while striking out 10 Pauls Valley batters.

She also was one of three Lady Jackets to drive in two runs in the game. She was 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs and three runs scored.

Addison Johnson also went 2 for 2 and drove in two runs.

Liilana Garramone was 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.

Shelby Davis added two hits and scored a run.

Kingfisher scored three runs in the first inning and led 5-0 entering the fourth before erupting for six more runs.

Plainview’s Landree Upshaw kept Kingfisher’s bats much more quiet.

Although the Lady Jackets managed nine hits, they also struck out 12 times in the loss.

Kendall Farrar gave Kingfi sher its only run when her single pushed home Callie Blair in the seventh inning.

Farrar and Reese Roof both had two hits in the game.

Kennedy Stewart threw three innings for the Lady Jackets, gave up five hits and three runs, though only one was earned.

East pitched the final three frames and gave up two unearned runs and four hits.

KHS had five errors in the game.

East got the start against Pauls Valley in Thursday’s final game.

The Panthers used a hit batter and a KHS error to set up a run in the first inning.

But that was all Pauls Valley could muster.

East pitched three innings and gave up one hit while striking out three.

Stewart threw the final two, surrendered three hits and had a strikeout.

KHS didn’t score in the first, but did manage at least two runs in each of its final four at-bats.

Davis’s triple in the second inning scored Johnson to tie the game and Blair’s single sent home Davis to give KHS the lead for good.

Johnson and Davis added run-scoring back-to-back doubles in the third to push it to 4-1.

Farrar stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the fourth and promptly cleared them with her double.

East added a two-run triple in the inning for a 9-1 lead.

The game ended in the fifth as Pauls Valley committed three straight errors.

East and Davis both had two hits in the game and drove in two runs.

KHS had 11 hits overall and five different Lady Jackets drove in at least one run.
