Cashion’s defense allowed just over a football field’s worth of total yards as the Wildcats swiped a significant district win.

Sayre managed just 112 total yards on a soggy, gloomy early Friday evening as Cashion emerged with a 31-8 home win.

In a week several teams played on Thursday to avoid potential weather issues, Cashion and Sayre could only move up their game 90 minutes on Friday due to other scheduling issues.

Putting the drainage system on its new synthetic surface to the test, Cashion ran for 243 yards to methodically push its record to 7-1.

The Wildcats are now 4-1 in District A-I-1 while Sayre dropped to 5-3 and 3-2.

The win keeps Cashion alive for a district championship, though the Wildcats need to win out and earn the maximum amount of 30 district points the next two weeks to keep those hopes intact.

Three different Wildcats combined for the four touchdowns as Cashion put up all its points in the second and third quarters.

After a scoreless first, Jayden Bolton put Cashion on the board with a 4-yard touchdown run at 10:43 of the second quarter.

That opened up the flood gates.

Kellen Smith added a 13-yard TD run later in the quarter and then Andrew Stockton booted a 37-yard field goal for a 17-0 halftime lead.

Senior Ethan Waswo hauled in a 31-yard touchdown from Smith in the third quarter and Smith pushed the score to 31-0 with a 9-yard TD run.

Although he didn’t score, Rival Fields did a good deal of work between the end zones.

The junior ran 12 times for 124 yards.

Bolton added 77 yards on nine carries and Smith had 39 yards on the ground.

The QB was 12 of 18 for 119 yards.

Waswo caught three passes for 60 yards.

Grayson Davis pulled in five catches for 50 yards.

Sayre could do little to move the ball against Cashion’s defense.

The Eagles were held under two yards a carry as they managed 66 yards on 36 attempts.

They had just 46 passing yards.

They got a heavy dose of Davis as he led Cashion with 14 tackles.

Waswo added six stops, including four tackles for a loss.

Cashion had 10 tackles for a loss as a team.

The Wildcats travel to Hinton (0-8, 0-5) this week before closing out the regular season at home with Fairview, which is the lone team without a district loss.
