Dan Yost

Dan Alan Yost, 70, of Terlton, was born Jan. 7, 1955, and passed away peacefully on Nov. 12, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa.

A graveside service was Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service with Pastor Jason Kleckner officiating.

Dan graduated from Lomega High School in 1973.

As a teenager, he was known for his Chevy Nova — always ready to back up his claim that he could outrace anyone in Loyal, Watonga or Kingfisher.

He married his high school sweetheart, Ronna Duffy, on May 25, 1974. Together they built a life rooted in family, hard work and laughter.

Dan was a lifelong farmer and rancher, a talented welder who worked for OK Trailers and Klingsick Machine Shop and ran his own welding repair business from the farm.

In 2014, Dan and Ronna retired and fulfilled their dream of “moving to the lake.” Dan will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic and the deep love he had for his family.

He never met a stranger — always ready to strike up a conversation, saying, “You can learn a lot about people by just taking the time to talk to them.”

His “home away from home” was Dan and Ronna’s houseboat on Lake Keystone.

His love for the lake began years earlier on family camping trips and continued through retirement, where Dan and Ronna spent days fishing and setting juglines.

Dan took his role seriously when it came to teaching others how to water ski.

He was known affectionately at the lake as “Lt. Dan” and Lake Keystone was always a place of rest, laughter and fun for him.

Even in his final days, Dan invited the nurses to join him fishing — when asked his rehab goal, he replied with a smile, “To get out of here and catch Moby Dick.”

Dan’s blue overalls were his signature look.

He never left home without his ice water, wintergreen mints, chapstick, handkerchief, pocketknife and flip phone.

He loved classic westerns, especially black-andwhite Gunsmoke episodes, which were a daily staple on his TV.

He and Ronna shared a love for travel, driving the entire Route 66, exploring the Great Lakes and Niagara Falls and taking unforgettable family trips to Hawaii and Alaska.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ronna Yost; his children, Shauna Chapman and husband Todd, Shane Yost and wife Carolee and Shelli Schroeder and husband Jeremy; his grandchildren Blake and Lance Yost, Joli Schroeder and Conner, Brookelyn and Addy Chapman; and one great-grandchild, Lily Chapman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and LaVada Yost; his sister, Sue Streck; niece, Niki Streck Culbreath; and his fatherin- law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Irene Duffy.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the OSU Medical Center staff for their compassionate care during Dan’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, an organization close to the family’s heart.
