Price wins gold for KHS girls; team finishes 4th

Erika Price’s gold medal led Kingfisher to a fourthplace finish last weekend in the Kingfisher High School Invitational wrestling tournament.

Price won the bracket that spanned three weight classes – 105, 110 and 115 pounds.

She won all four of her matches, with three of those being by fall in the first period.

Her lone match to go the distance was an 18-10 major decision against Perkins’ Sarah Kimsey.

Price pinned Cashion’s Jaydin Kordis (17 seconds) and Capitol Hill’s Allison Carrizales (:21) and Sofia Rangel (1:43).

She was responsible for 17 of Kingfisher’s 46.5 points.

Guthrie won the team title with 124 points.

Capitol Hill’s 84 points edged Marlow’s 83 for the runner-up spot.

Cattie Crum placed second and Delissa Evans third for KHS at 140-145 pounds.

Crum went 3-1 in her matches with her lone loss coming to Ava Toumbs of Marlow.

She pinned teammates Effie Hendrix (4:00) and Evans (2:42) and also Ali-yah Carrasco of Santa Fe South (:37).

Evans’ losses were to Crum and Toumbs.

She defeated Hendrix (1:17) and Carrasco (:22).

Eli PIckle finished third at 170 pounds, Aubree Torres fourth at 125 and Sydnie Toepfer sixth at 120 for Kingfisher.

Cashion’s Roman Davis won the girls 190-pound/ heavyweight division by going 4-1 in her matches.

She pinned Lizett Garcia- Reyes of Capitol Hill, Kaley Davis of Marlow, Paola Vargas of Santa Fe South and Keira Stanford of Capitol Hill all in under 40 seconds.

Davis, who last year became Cashion’s first-ever female state qualifier, was pinned by Anna Toumbs of Marlow in 2:50 for her only loss.

Jaydin Kordis placed fourth at 105-110-115 for Cashion, which placed sixth as a team with 27 points.
