One rough quarter kept Hennessey from having a perfect run through the Skordle Festival.

The Lady Eagles went 2-1 last weekend during a portion of the festival held at their own Eagle Event Center.

They downed Turpin 63-37 on Thursday then dominated the second half for a 56-36 win against Chattanooga on Friday.

Seiling spoiled the run Saturday by avenging an earlier loss to Hennessey and winning 47-34.

Hennessey beat Class B-I’s second-ranked Ladycats 47-24 in the finals of the Mooreland tournament in December.

This time around, Seiling led 20-16 at halftime but created even more distance with a 15-8 edge in the third quarter.

In that frame, Hennessey had just one field goal and made five free throws.

Meanwhile, four different Ladycats made a 3-pointer as the lead grew to double digits.

Hennessey couldn’t overcome it.

Clare Munroe led her team with 18 points in defeat while Seiling had three players score in double figures.

Chattanooga is ranked seventh in B-II and entered Friday’s game with a sixgame win streak.

The teams played to a 23-all tie in the first half but the second half, namely the third quarter, belonged to the Lady Eagles.

Hennessey outscored Chatty 14-2 in the third as five different players scored.

One of them was Joselyn Roman, who knocked down a 3-pointer. Turns out, she was just heating up.

Roman made three more treys in the fourth as Hennessey outscored Chattanooga 19-11.

She finished the game with 13, all in the second half.

Emma Copleand led the way with 14 points.

Her hot streak came in the first half.

She made four 3-pointers, three in the second quarter, and scored 14 points.

Munroe joined Roman in scoring 13 points.

Turpin was able to hang with Hennessey for much of the first quarter, but the next two were all Lady Eagles.

After leading by five through eight minutes, Hennessey outscored Turpin 40-12 over the next 16.

Munroe scored 12 in the first quarter alone and finished the game with 22.

Emily Goff scored 9.

Hennessey wrapped up the weekend with a 14-4 overall record.

The third quarter of one game also prevented the Hennessey boys from a 3-0 run in the festival.

Theirs came Friday in a 68-65 loss to Chattanooga.

Hennessey built a lead as large as 12 in the first half before seeing it trimmed down to three by halftime.

In the third, Chattanooga’s 18-9 run proved more than Hennessey could overcome.

The Eagles made a late charge and made three 3-pointers in the final 90 seconds.

That helped them cut a deficit that was as many as 6 points in the final 30 seconds down to one possession.

But a turnover with 17.7 seconds to play and then a Chatty three-point play with less than 8 seconds left sealed the deal.

Making the late 3-pointers were Hagen Copeland, Beau Vinson and Brytan Gardner.

That trio scored in double figures.

Vinson led the way with 23 while Copeland scored 20. Gardner added 12.

Chatty is the seventh- ranked team in B-II and has just one loss all season.

The Eagles rebounded from that defeat with a 5433 victory against Seiling on the festival’s final day.

Again, it was Copeland, Vinson and Gardner with double-digit scoring.

Copeland scored 14 of his 16 in the first half as Hennessey staked a 23-13 lead.

Seiling’s scoring picked up in the third, but so did Hennessey’s.

Vinson scored 8 and Gardner 7 as the Eagles outscored Seiling 22-13.

Gardner completed the game with 13 while Vinson scored 8.

Freddy Meraz chipped in 9 points.

The Eagles opened the festival Thursday by downing Turpin 60-40.

Up by four after a quarter, the Eagles outscored Turpin 21-11 in the second.

Gardner scored 8 in the frame, including two treys.

He ended the game with 10.

Copeland led all scorers with 19, which included two 3-pointers and 12 points in the third quarter.

Meraz had three field goals in each of the first two quarters before ending with 16 points.
