Three events.

Three gold medals. Three all-state honors. One tremendous day. That wrapped up last Saturday for Cashion sophomore Khloe Kastner.

She won all three of her events in the Oklahoma Cross Country & Track Coaches Association (OCCTCA) Indoor Finals at the Mosier Indoor Athletic Facility on the University of Oklahoma campus in Norman.

Kastner was the Division 3 champion in the 60 meter dash, 200 meter dash and the long jump.

She qualified for the indoor finals with her performance at the OCCTCA prelims on Jan. 31, also in Norman.

There she won the 200 and long jump and was runner-up in the 60.

After running the 60 in 7.90 seconds at the prelims, Kastner blistered that time with a 7.77 at the finals.

She barely edged Tori Simmons of Chelsea, who was timed at 7.78 seconds.

The only runner to beat Kastner in the prelims was Simone Lister of Carl Albert, who ran 7.88 in that race, just .02 better than Kastner.

Lister won the Division 2 finals with a 7.77, the same time as Kastner.

In winning the 200 at the prelims, Kastner crossed the finish line in 26.41 seconds.

She won the finals in 25.78, just ahead of Kings-ton’s Coby Davis, who was clocked at 26.41. Simmons was third in 26.53.

The long jump wasn’t so close…at either meet.

She won the finals with a leap of 17 feet, 5 inches.

Dewey’s Camrin Jones was the runner-up with a jump of 16-6.

Kastner beat Jones at the prelims when she jumped 17-9 to Jones’ 16-8.75.

Her showing at the indoor finals earned Kastner OCCTCA All-State for each of those three events, an honor reserved solely for state champions.

Even prior to the OCCTCA finals, Kastner’s indoor performances had qualified her for the Adidas Nationals to be held March 20-22 in Virginia Beach, Va.

Despite her youth, success on the track or the field is nothing new to Kastner.

She won three golds and a bronze in last year’s Class 2A state track and field meet as a freshman for Cashion, helping the team to a runner- up finish.

Kastner was a member of the gold medal-winning 100 and 800 meter relay teams.

She was also the state champ in the long jump and was the runner-up in the 200.

Kastner was one of three Kingfisher County athletes taking part in the indoor finals.

A fellow outdoor state champ joining her was Dover senior Kylee Bell, who qualified for the pole vault.

Bell finished as the Division 3 state runner-up in the event by clearing 10-6.

Silo’s Khloe Harris won by vaulting 12-0.

Bell earned OCCTCA All-Star status for her finish.

Bell and Harris both “only” cleared 9-5 during the prelim event as they tied for first.

Bell is the reigning Class A outdoor state champ in the event when she set a PR of 11-0 last spring.

Lomega’s Kinsley Fisher placed eighth in the Division 3 shot put.

Her throw of 31-8 was more than a foot better than her best attempt at the prelims when she covered 30-0.

Fisher has signed to continue her career at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

She was fourth in the shot put at last year’s Class A state meet.
