Kingfisher bounced back from a quarterfinal loss to claim two straight wins for the girls consolation championship at the Jim Loomis Invitational soccer tournament on Saturday.

It culminated Saturday with a 6-1 win over Weatherford JV in the fifth-place game.

It was the third straight year the Lady Jackets have won two games in the tournament.

KHS opened with a 3-1 loss to Elgin on a blustery Friday afternoon.

Maya Haney scored the team’s lone goal in that match.

The Lady Jackets came back Friday evening to top Cordell 4-2.

Jennings Broddle, Yesenia Rivera and Magaly Charqueño were the scorers in this one with Charqueño finding the net twice. She wasn’t done.

Charqueño came back Saturday to field a hat trick against Weatherford JV.

Broddle and Haney also scored, as did Brinley Reese, who secured her first career goal in the first half.

KHS was 3-3 after the tournament with three wins in its last four games despite a rash of injuries that continue to plague the squad.

Kingfisher hosted the OKC Storm Tuesday before beginning District 3A-2 action Wednesday by hosting Crossings Christian.
