Different ends of the softball spectrum were visited early last week by Kingfisher High School during district games.

After not surrendering a run in a double-header sweep against John Marshall on Monday (see Wednesday, Aug. 25, edition for story), the Lady Jackets were themselves shutout twice while being swept on Tuesday.

Blanchard flexed its muscle at home while knocking off KHS 9-0 and 7-0.

The losses dropped the Lady Jackets to 9-8 overall and 2-4 in District 4A-4 games.

Brittany Willson and Kynli Boeckman had the team’s only hits in the opener at Blanchard.

Still, KHS was in the thick of it late into the game.

Merrin Evans kept the Lady Lions mostly off balance as KHS trailed ony 2-0 entering the fifth inning.

That’s when Blanchard started to figure out the left-hander and scored four times off six hits.

Blanchard had just six hits entering the inning.

In the night’s final game, Blanchard broke open a close game with a four-run fourth inning. The Lady Lions ended up with 15 hits in the game.

KHS countered with five, but couldn’t turn any into runs.

Gentry Taylor was 2 for 3.

Boeckman, Emma Lukasek and Willson had one hit apiece.
