In a possible playoff preview, Amber-Pocasset got the best of Okarche last Friday night.Class A’s fourth-ranked Lady Panthers held off No. 5 Okarche for a 33-27 home win.

Abbie Myers already had a fantastic night on the basketball court.Her final play Friday night made it epic.The Kingfisher senior drained a runner as time expired to lift the Lady Jackets to a thrilling 51-49 overtime victory over Destiny Christian at the APB.

County schools stay (mostly) close to home

Kingfisher County has three No. 1-ranked teams in Classes B-II and A.As a result, those teams are being rewarded with most of their basketball playoffs at home - or close to home.The OSSAA on Saturday released the basketball playoff assignments for the three smallest classes: A, B-I and B-II.

Brett Tahah said it looked like her team hadn’t played or practiced in about a week.For good reason. Playing for the first time in eight days, Okarche put the defensive clamps on Crescent in a 41-22 victory at home.

KHS gets past Weatherford again

Some things change.Others remain the same. There were a ton of changes to the schedule of the 2026 Buckle of the Wheatbelt Invitational.It started early. Teams couldn’t show up. JV teams were thrown in the mix. More teams couldn’t show up other days. Games were moved. Games were canceled.

Another heartbreak

The Kingfisher boys basketball team has tasted defeat’s worst kind of agony in two straight games.The Jackets were defeated 61-59 by Woodward on Wednesday night in the third-place game of the Buckle of the Wheatbelt Invitational at the APB.

P-T stuns Eagles for boys crown

Perkins-Tryon completed a magical run through the boys bracket with a 5247 upset win in overtime over top-seeded Weatherford in Wednesday night’s boys title game.

Buckle up! Lady Jackets are champs again

CHAMPS AGAIN – More than a week after the tournament started, the 2026 Buckle of the Wheatbelt Invitational wrapped up on Wednesday night at the APB. That evening saw the Kingfisher Lady Jackets down Weatherford 60-48 in the girls championship game.
