Allison Green epitomized the entire Kingfisher Lady Jackets basketball team in its season opener.The KHS senior couldn’t quite find the mark in the first quarter, but caught fire in the second.The result was a career night for Green in a 73-18 win for KHS at Chisholm’s Outhier Fieldhouse.

Ben Harman and Mason Manning secured the lead.Nick Nabavi secured Cashion’s spot in yet another state championship game.Cashion out-gunned Pawhuska 35-31 in their second epic Class A semifinal in as many years, this time at Ponca City High School.

Kingfisher’s freshman basketball team dropped to 1-1 on the season after last Monday’s 38-34 home loss to Blanchard.The Jackets found themselves in a big early hole and were never able to dig completely out.The Lions scored the game’s first 11 points and were up 17-3 after a quarter.

Dover returned to action Tuesday for the first time in 11 days and was denied its chance to get a win streak going.The Longhorns were downed 57-32 at Waukomis.After scoring 12 points in the first quarter, Dover didn’t manage more than eight in any of the final three frames.

The Taylor Young era of Kingfisher High School girls basketball is officially - and finally - underway.The Lady Jackets opened their 2021-22 season Friday at Chisholm (after this edition went to press).

A new era begins Friday night for both Kingfisher High School basketball programs.When Kingfisher tips off the 2021-22 season at Chisholm, it will mark the first game for new girls coach Taylor Young and the first game for a boys team that attempts to reload after its historic run.

A pair of semifinal opponents in this year’s Class A playoff bracket will have taken similar paths when Cashion and Pawhuska meet again.The two play at 7 p.m. Friday at Ponca City for a spot in the following week’s title game.
