Cashion baseball coach Blake Mounce tries to avoid the “Gatorade bath” after his team qualified for the Class 2A state tournament for the second straight year. The Wildcats on Saturday thumped Minco 12-2 to win their regional tournament and advance to this week’s state tournament. It’s the sixth time a Cashion baseball team has qualified for state. Sixth-ranked Cashion beat Minco 13-2 to open the regional, then beat No. 13 Ketchum 4-1 on Friday to advance to the regional title game. The 2A state baseball tournament is slated to begin Thursday. As of press times, state tournament brackets had not been released by the OSSAA. [Photo by Brad Stone/www.bestone.shootproof.com]
