Visitors - and certainly the volunteers - to this year’s Kingfisher Winter Nights may have noticed some upgrades at the train depot at Kingfisher Park.That’s due to the handiwork of students from Chisholm Trail Technology Center’s construction trades program.

Carrol Gene ‘Shorty’ Jones

Carrol Gene “Shorty” Jones was born on May 27, 1940, to Agnes and Virgil Jones, in Nogal, N.M. Shorty graduated from Capitain High School in 1959. He served in the United States Air Force in the 1960s. On Dec. 19, 2025, Shorty peacefully passed at home in Hennessey.

Jaqueta Colleen Connell of Dover, who was known and loved by all as Jackie, departed this world at her home Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.Jackie was born in Midland, Texas, on Oct. 23, 1937, to Lee and Iva Franks. She was raised in Bristow and graduated from high school there.

Kingfisher High School seniors Vann Burgess and Shelby Davis are the December 2025 Junior Lions.The two were guests at a recent meeting of the Kingfi sher Lions Club.Burgess is the son of Cindi and Will Burgess.
