Okarche sweeps DKG essay contest

Students from Okarche junior high’s eighth grade recently swept the top three places in the annual Delta Kappa Gamma essay contest. Izabella Beam (center) was the first-place winner, Ethan Kirby (left) was second, and Easton Roby (right) placed third. The multi-county essay contest is sponsored each year by the Theta chapter of the professional organization of women educators. The three will be honored at a reception April 9 in Kingfisher and will receive their awards then. Beam’s essay will be entered in the statewide competition. YOUTH CAMP DEADLINE

YOUTH CAMP DEADLINE — The annual Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Youth Camp provides youth ages 14 to 16 an opportunity to explore careers in the world of wildlife and fisheries management. The 2022 Wildlife Youth Camp will be held June 12-17 at the OU Biological Station near Kingston. The deadline to apply is April 15. All applying potential campers must have been enrolled in school the previous year.
