en-thu-si-asm (noun): strong excitement of feeling

Kingfisher’s basketball teams gave their fans - and themselves - plenty to be excited about last week. Kingfisher’s girls were defeated 50-41 by Weatherford in the state quarterfinals Tuesday morning, but not before some thrilling moments on the court brought the bench to its feet, or in sophomore Chloe Blair’s case, to the air. The KHS boys made their way into the semifinals with Tuesday night’s 41-28 victory over Blanchard. In that game, Kingfisher nailed nine 3-pointers. Celebrating one of those shots from downtown are freshmen Lucas Conrady, Matthew Mecklenburg and Carter Kitchens. For more on those games, see Page 6. [Photos by Russell Stitt/www.stitt.smugmug.com]

You can still see signs today bragging that their high school was the state champion wrestling team in 1962.
