Pretend for a moment or two that you had become President of the United States of America and suddenly learned that after more than 60 years of Communist dictatorship, the people of Cuba had arisen in great numbers not only in Havana but in smaller cities and towns across the length of the largest island in the Caribbean. What if through the wonder of the internet, Americans at all levels were watching brave Cuban citizens marching through their streets carrying flags of their country and in many instances our beautiful Stars and Stripes as well?

Lions Club members take tour of new justice center

Kingfisher County Sheriff Dennis Banther, center, conducted a guided tour of the newly-completed Kingfisher County Criminal Justice Center for local Lions Club members recently. Located south of town, west of the hospital on Victory Lane, the facility houses a state-of-the-art jail facility, the entire sheriff’s department staff, a 911 call center, an office for Kingfisher Emergency Management, prisoner transfer facilities, interrogation room, a kitchen for feeding inmates, an on-site courtroom for the Kingfisher County associate district judge and architectural features planned for expansion as future growth dictates.
