MUSEUM MAKEOVER – Jason Harris, left, curator of the Chisholm Trail Museum of Kingfisher, shows an architectural photo of the future: “The Chisholm: Oklahoma Museum of Innovation.” The local museum will soon undergo major renovations to the site, located at 605 Zellers Ave. Speaking to the Kingfisher Rotary Club last month, Harris said the renovation is to be a three-phase, three-year project and the Oklahoma Historical Society has deemed that the Kingfisher museum will now focus on Oklahoma’s role in industry and free enterprise. He said local fundraising efforts will begin soon. The offices of the museum would move across the street to the north to the Governor Seay Mansion as work progresses on the rebuild, Harris added. Until construction begins, Harris said it would be “business as usual” at the museum, with the annual Chuckwagon gathering scheduled for Oct. 1-2.
