Barbara Platt

The funeral for Barbara Platt, 93, was Saturday June 28, at Hennessey First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Sandra Shepherd. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry- Gritz Funeral Home.

Barbara was born in Hennessey on July 2, 1931, to Ernest Frakes and Vivian Dixon Frakes and died Thursday, June 19, 2025, at her home in Hennessey with her family by her side.

She married Lester Platt in Hennessey on July 15, 1948.

Barbara was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Hennessey Mother’s Club and was active in the Hennessey Senior Citizens Center.

Barbara is survived by one son, Harold Platt and wife Terrie of Justin, Texas; one daughter, Rita Ferguson and husband John of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two sisters, Linda Pribyl of Hennessey and Norma Unger of Boston, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son-in-law Dennis McAlister and stepmother Mary Hoffman.
