Neil Andrew Mays

Neil Andrew Mays, 42, passed away Oct. 17, 2026, in Tulsa.

A memorial service will be held at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Services and Crematory at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27. Lunch will be served for everyone following the service.

Neil was born July 6, 1984, in Oklahoma City to Gary and Susan Mays. He was blessed to have big brother Brad there to meet him.

Neil spent the first four years of his life in Kingfisher before his family moved to Bartlesville in August 1988.

From an early age, Neil was an active, imaginative child who loved his family. He delighted in wearing superhero costumes, watching cartoons — especially Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — and spending time playing with his brother, Brad, and neighborhood friends.

His wonderful imagination and enthusiasm for childhood adventures made those early years special.

As Neil grew older, he remained involved in a variety of activities. He participated in Cub Scouts and youth sports, including soccer and baseball.

He was also a member of East Cross United Methodist Church, where faith and community were part of his upbringing.

Neil developed an appreciation for music, playing the clarinet and becoming a member of the Bartlesville High School marching band.

Neil graduated from Bartlesville High School in 2003. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he joined his brother, Brad.

The move to Norman brought new friendships and opportunities to share some of his favorite experiences. Neil enjoyed attending Oklahoma football games with Brad and the friends he made at OU. Those game days became treasured memories of brotherhood, friendship and the excitement of cheering on the Sooners together.

During his time at OU, Neil continued to nurture his faith through Christian student organizations. He regularly attended the Wesley Foundation on Tuesday evenings and the Baptist Student Union on Thursday evenings.

For a brief time, he also sang in the Wesley Foundation Choir, combining his interest in music with his involvement in the campus faith community.

Neil graduated from the University of Oklahoma in May 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in geography, emphasizing geographic information systems (GIS).

After graduation, Neil worked in Oklahoma City and Wichita before returning to Oklahoma and settling in Jenks.

He spent the last seven years of his career working for the City of Tulsa, serving the community through his knowledge and skills in geographic information systems.

For the final four years of his tenure, he worked as an engineering GIS analyst.

In 2018, Neil met Whitney Jones, the woman who would become the love of his life. Their relationship grew into marriage on July 23, 2022, beginning a new chapter filled with love, companionship and shared adventures.

Neil and Whitney enjoyed traveling together and discovering new places. They shared a love of music, food and family, finding happiness in the experiences they enjoyed side by side.

The greatest joy they shared was Lulu the cat that Whitney brought to their marriage. Lulu had Neil wrapped around her paws.

Throughout his life, family remained an important part of Neil’s story. From childhood adventures with Brad to college football games and the life he built with Whitney, his relationships connected many of the most meaningful moments of his life.

Marriage to Whitney gave Neil additional family that he cherished: motherin- law Mary, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Kyle and DeDe, niece Chesney, nephew Brody and, forever with him in heaven, niece Paisley.

Neil is survived by his beloved wife, Whitney; his parents, Gary and Susan Mays; and his brother, Brad. Loving aunts and uncles and cousins will miss him greatly.

Neil was quiet, humble, loyal, loving, sweet, gentle and patient. His friends said he never said a bad word about anyone.

In his understated way, he had a personality like his grandfather, Jim Gilmour. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.

Neil gave the ultimate gift of life with his passing as he was an organ donor. Multiple people have been given a chance at a better life with Neil’s generosity. We hope others will consider doing the same.

Neil Andrew Mays will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

May he rest in peace, forever loved and never forgotten.

Cremation Services were under the care of Wilson Funeral Home- Kingfisher.
