Carol “Sue” (Oliver) Williams, 84, of Woodward, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021, in Norman.

Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 16, at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sue was born Nov. 18, 1936, in Woodward to Charlie E. and Delilah E. (Thomas) Oliver.

She was raised in Woodward, attended Woodward Schools and graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1955.

Sue married the love of her life, Joe Edward Williams, on Nov. 23, 1957, at the First United Methodist Church in Woodward.

Sue and Joe made their home in Woodward and remained lifelong Woodward residents.

They were blessed with two children, Kurt Oliver and Sally Jo.

While raising her family, Sue worked for her parents as a salesperson and bookkeeper at Oliver’s Shoe Store until 1985 when the store closed.

After retiring, Sue and Joe spent time traveling and visiting kids and grandkids.

Sue worked in her garden and maintained an immaculate yard. She enjoyed cooking family dinners, doing needle point and knitting.

She also played bridge frequently with friends and other table games with family.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was very active in the church for many years. She was also a member of Gamma Sorority in Woodward and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at the University of Oklahoma.

Sue is survived by her two children, son Kurt Williams of Norman and daughter Sally Robertson and husband D.L. “Dud” of Cashion; grandchildren Sophie Jeane Williams, Scarlett Angeline Williams, Nash Oliver Williams, Dexton Williams Robertson and Tatum Dee Robertson; sister-in-law Karen Laubhan of Enid; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers-in-law, Doug Laubhan and Doug Williams.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the donations.
