The funeral for Donald D. “Donnie” Miller, 84, was Thursday June 24, at Hennessey First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. P. J. Stewart. Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Donnie was born March 22, 1937, in Hennessey to Orie and Rutha Townsend Miller and died Monday June 21, 2021, at his home west of Hennessey.

Donnie graduated from Lacy High School and worked for Wilson Foods in Oklahoma City for several years before moving back to Hennessey in 1974.

He married Kay Martin in Havre, Mont., on Aug. 11, 1956.

Donnie was a member of Coronado Masonic Lodge #56, was a former certified EMT, a board member of Farmer’s Co-op, Cimarron Hunting Preserve, the Hennessey Powder and String Club, was a founding member of the Grand National Quail Club and was a member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.

Donnie owned and operated Miller Game Bird farm west of Hennessey for several years.

He is survived by one son, Greg Miller and wife Lana of Kingfisher; one daughter, Tina Walker and husband Lance of Edmond; four grandchildren, Alex Miller, Cameron Miller, Orie Walker and Riley Walker; two great-grandchildren, Addison Miller and Wyatt Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kay, three brothers and three sisters.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hennessey Powder and String Club with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
