Dorothy Katherine Sarah (Post) Schroeder went to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug. 1, 2021.

She passed away peacefully at Countrywood Assisted Living in Kingfisher. She was 100 years old.

Dorothy was born Sept. 21, 1920, to W.B and Sarah (Gleichman) Post on their farm northeast of Okarche.

She entered the Kingdom of God by the washing of the Water and the Word.

Dorothy was baptized Oct. 13, 1920, by Pastor T.C. Otte.

She attended a country school, then St. John’s Lutheran School in Okarche and confessed her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ on her Confirmation Day, March 25, 1935, at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

She graduated high school in 1938.

On Dec. 22, 1940, Dorothy was married to Alvin Schroeder at her parents’ home by Pastor Paul Hoyer, making a commitment to one another “Til death do us part.”

For over 70 years, they were committed to each other, looking to God’s Word and Sacrament and His Blessings and Encouragement.

Besides being an excellent cook, she was a loving wife, Mom, and Grandma.

Dorothy was a homemaker as well as working at the Okarche Memorial Hospital, County Election Board and taught Sunday School and Midweek.

To this couple God gave three children: Allen of Okarche; Douglas and wife Arlene of Houston, Texas, and Pamela and husband Kenneth Smith of Okarche; 10 grandchildren, Christi Hufnagel and husband Clay of Okarche, Greg and wife Tricia of Okarche, Stacy Garcia and husband J.B of Houston, Michelle Brown and husband Jason of Pearland, Texas, Kimberly Kesler and husband Craig of Dallas, Texas, Susanna Johnson and husband Doug of Magnolia, Texas, Brian Schroeder and wife Kelly of Odessa, Texas, Chad Smith and wife Michell of Edmond, Cortnee Hawk and husband Kevin of Okarche, and Seth Smith and wife Vanessa of Oklahoma City.

There are 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by sister-in-law Evelyn Post.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: Raymond, Dennis and Albert.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Okarche. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Okarche with Pastors Joel Heckmann and Ray Smith officiating.

Services are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
