Lion Guyla Lee Grabow Brinckmeyer of Rehoboth Beach, Dela., went home to be with God on Jan. 23, 2019.

She was born Dec. 6, 1932, at the home of her parents, Alfred and June Grabow of the Loyal community.

Guyla graduated from Loyal High School in May 1951. She later attended Draughon’s Business College in Oklahoma City.

Guyla married Jack Brinckmeyer on March 14, 1952, at the Loyal Evangelical and Reformed Church.

They first met when Guyla was recruited to be in Jack’s senior play in 1948. They have been best friends and sweethearts for 71 years.

Jack and Guyla looked forward to celebrating 67 years of marriage in March.

In Rehoboth Beach, the Brinckmeyers owned and operated The Drift Inn, a bed and breakfast beach house.

They bought The Drift Inn in 1977. Since then, Guyla and Jack have been hosts to multiple friends and family, all of whom have many fond memories of being at The Drift Inn.

Guyla was a faithful member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rehoboth Beach, serving on Session and other church committees.

She also was a tireless worker and devoted member of the Rehoboth Beach Lioness and Lions clubs. She was elected president of both clubs on several occasions and has been the club secretary for many years. She had worked with much dedication to support the Lions Club since 1991.

Guyla is survived by her husband Jack; her sister Joye Grabow Garnett and husband Keith; three children, Kimberly Brinckmeyer Le-Vert, Kent Brinckmeyer and Kelly Brinckmeyer Sullivan; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Grabow.

Memorial services are pending at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Guyla’s honor may be made to Rehoboth Beach Lions Club, P.O. Box 291, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
