Ladye Travis “Bootsie” Brown, Hennessey, passed away on Jan. 14, 2022. She was 96 years old.

Bootsie was born on Dec. 22, 1925, to Samuel Travis and Mickey Ruth (Wright) Greene in Terrell, Texas, where she grew up and graduated from high school at the age of 16.

She married J.W. Brown of Irving, Texas, on Feb. 21, 1947.

The Browns had two children - Ruth Ann (Satchell) and John W. Brown. They moved from Texas and established their home in Hennessey in 1961.

Bootsie was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Hennessey and worked at the newly established Senior Citizen Center after J.W. passed away.

There she worked hard for nine years to build a community and provide services to help those in need.

But her greatest accomplishment and joy was her family, which includes: daughter, Ruth Ann Satchell (Dennis) of Kingfisher; son John W. Brown (Brenda) of Norman; grandchildren Stacey Satchell of Nashville, Tenn., Erin Scammahorn of Kingfisher, Travis Brown of Oklahoma City, Shawnna Brown of Tulsa, Lindsey Pinkerton of Okarche, Jessica Morey of Oklahoma City; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by one brother, Charley Greene of Royce City, Texas, whom she loved dearly.

Bootsie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Harold Greene, nephews Ray, Steve, John, James and

Larry; and a niece, Jana.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be made to First Christian Church of Hennessey, Russell-Murray Hospice or any charity of your choice.

Services were Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Hennessey First Christian Church followed by burial at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
