Larry Eugene Smith was born on Jan. 26, 1952, in Sacramento, Calif., to Norman Harold Smith and Zella Delores (Mitchell) Hill. He passed away Nov. 20, 2025, at the age of 73. He proudly served in the United States Army and later attended trade school. Larry spent much of his early life in California before making Oklahoma his home in 1988. Larry loved the classic sounds of 1950s and 1960s country music.

His perfect day was one spent by the ocean with his family, feeding the squirrels and enjoying the peaceful beauty of nature.

He had a gift for humor — always telling jokes, teasing and getting a good laugh or reaction out of those around him. His joy was contagious.

Larry was the proud father of five children, each of whom carries a part of his legacy: Kim shared, “My dad taught me how to be responsible and strong. I learned a love for nature and how to appreciate and respect it. He taught me how to be brave, how to love and how to show strength even when times get hard.”

Sara said, “Dad taught me the love of gardening, fishing and the ocean. He showed me how to barbecue and mow the lawn. He shared his love of camping and the importance of taking care of your vehicle.”

Brileigh reflected, “My dad taught me how to be strong. I didn’t always notice it growing up, but now I do. Even when life was hard, he kept going. When I go through hard things now, because of him, I will always carry the strength he gave me.”

Larry loved his family fiercely and always wanted the very best for them.

He will be remembered as a strong, proud soldier, a devoted son, a loving father, a man of God and a man who lived with heart, humor and resilience.

Larry was a member of the Assembly of God.

He enjoyed the ocean, pizza, family gatherings, singing, playing guitar, watching his favorite shows and spending time with his beloved fur babies, Missy (Pig) and Princy.

Larry’s significant life accomplishments included serving in the military, attending truck driving school, working at Mc-Clellan Air Force Base in California and later transferring to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma.

He was married to Cleaette McAddams and later to Gina Smith, who preceded him in death in 2014.

He was also preceded in death by his father Norman Smith, his sister, Susan Smith, and his brotherin- law, Dennis McGinnis.

Larry is survived by his mother, Zella Hill; children, Kimberly Mae Smith of Orangevale, Calif., Sara Raylene Hallford and her husband William of Orangevale, Calif., Brileigh Marie Quick and her husband Clarence of Kingfisher, Aaron Lough of Oklahoma City, Ethan Lough and his wife Amber of Yukon.

He is also survived by his brother Timmy Smith of Miami; his sisters Brenda Smith of Carl Junction, Mo., and Kathy McGinnis of Joplin, Mo.; and his seven cherished grandchildren, Nathan, Dylan, Lucas, Zoey, Emma, Kade and Hallie.

Larry’s love, laughter and strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Services for Larry will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, followed by burial at a later date in Fair Oaks, Calif.
