Lois Maxwell
Lois Elaine Maxwell, 70, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loved ones, on April 16, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Perryton, Texas, on Aug. 29, 1954, to Gustav Elmer Krienke and Adalyn Neva Louise (Holtmann) Krienke. Lois was the fifth of six children, raised on a wheat farm in the panhandle of Texas and attended Zion Lutheran Church in Follett, Texas, where she was baptized (1954) and confirmed (1967).
She went on to graduate with honors in 1972 from Follett High School. After graduation, she moved to Enid to attend and graduate Beech’s Beauty College and started a cherished 45-year career in cosmetology.
On the night of the 1973 famous flood in Enid, Lois met the love of her life, Ronnie Lee Maxwell. They wed on Dec. 7, 1974, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enid and then moved to Omega.
In December 1979, they welcomed the pride and joy of their lives, Hollie Dawn. Lois and Hollie shared a very special bond.
They enjoyed many, many stories and sweet inside jokes (“get the cookie, Mama”). She was tremendously proud of Hollie and enjoyed sharing so with everyone.
Faith and family came first, above all else, to Lois.
However, the treasured years spent with her “beauty shop ladies,” who became more like family, were relationships she valued and missed greatly.
Her church family at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfisher was a tremendous joy and she delighted in working with LWML.
Lois loved spending time with family and was a constant source of love and support, always there with a listening ear, a warm hug, a helping hand and a hot cup of coffee in the mug of your choice.
Lois will be remembered for always making sure everyone was taken care of, her incredible cooking and baking talents, her patience and understanding, her beautiful sewing skills, her witty sense of humor, her creative crafting and her kind smile.
Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronnie Maxwell; parents Gustav and Adalyn Krienke; brother Paul Gustav Krienke and sister Phyllis Lynne Krienke.
She is survived by her daughter, Hollie Dawn Maxwell, Omega; sister, Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Thomas, Yukon; brother, Daniel Luther (Katie) Krienke, Perryton, Texas; brother, Michael Elmer (Renie) Krienke, Enid; and numerous nieces and nephews who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Lois will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kingfi sher.
Viewing will take place at the church prior to the service starting at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
