Against his family’s wishes, Marvin Wilcox departed this life on June 17, 2023. Marvin Lee Wilcox was born in Kingfisher on Dec. 8, 1946, to Marion “Fuzz” and Julia “Judy” Wilcox.

He attended Big Four school through graduation in 1965.

He spoke fondly of his school days at Big Four and considered himself fortunate to have been a part of that community.

After graduation, Marvin married Linda Perdue and to this union was born two children most precious to him, Jeffrey Lee and Lisa Marlyn.

Marvin began his working career at KB&T filing checks. He was told, “with your smile, you need to be out front,” so he learned the loan officer roll under the tutelage of Otto Cowell and Wayne Hasenfratz.

Marvin was a credit to his position and always believed in giving people a chance.

Marvin loved softball and played with a fierce competitive spirit. He was flown all over the United States to play tournament ball while also playing in local and state leagues.

He was well-known on the softball field for his home run hitting. He made many friends during his softball career with Tom Edgar and Tom Arms being at the top of the list.

He began weightlifting as a way to hit the ball farther.

Marvin met the love of his life, Pam, and after a short nine-year courtship, they were married on June 11, 1993.

Marvin was an avid outdoorsman, loved to fish and pheasant hunt with best friends Kurt Henderson and Craig Simmons.

He loved keeping his yard green, mowing and weed eating, but his passion became raising racehorses and this continued until his death.

He often said, “you got to know somebody in the horse business, or they’ll eat you alive.”

He knew some of the best in lifelong friends Gary McNair, Monty Mc-Nair, Kenneth Murray and Dan Francis.

Marvin was a fair and honest man, treated people with respect and kindness, and made friends so easily with his wonderful smile and personality.

He was tremendously proud of his two children and what they’ve accomplished in their lives.

He would say, “they didn’t get their smarts from me; they got it from their mom.”

That pride carried over to his grandchildren and he would puff up his chest when bragging about them.

Marvin’s legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed beyond measure.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles and father-inlaw, Buck Hollinger.

Marvin leaves behind his wife of 30 years Pam; son Jeff and daughterin- law Shanna Wilcox; daughter Lisa Wilcox; grandchildren Landon, Logan, Jeremy, Olivia, Taylor, Dillon and Kate; two great-grandsons, Turner and Charlie; nieces Lael Townsend and Heather Payne; two nephews, Ryan Wilcox and Cris Wilcox.

The family asks memorial donations be made to the SPCA of your choice or any animal rescue.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Banner cemetery in Dover.
