The funeral for Nancy K. LaPorte, 78, was Friday, April 25, at Hennessey First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Sandra Shepherd and Jimmy Berkenbile.

Burial followed at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Nancy was born in Enid on Feb. 8, 1947, to Isadore and Gladys Clements Oswald and died Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Hennessey Care Center.

She graduated from Hennessey High School in 1965.

Nancy married Charlie LaPorte in Hennessey on Jan. 19, 1969, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in May 1969 with an honorary doctorate of pharmacy degree.

They bought Jansen Drug in Hennessey on Feb. 15, 1973, and re-named it LaPorte Pharmacy. They owned and operated it for the next 43 years.

Nancy was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Oklahoma Pharmacy Association and the Gideon Auxiliary.

Nancy served the people of the Hennessey community for 43 years and considered those she served as family.

Nancy opened the pharmacy countless times after hours to get medicine for a sick child or a family in need.

She is survived by her husband Charlie of the home; one brother, Ray Oswald of Enid; and many cousins.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Isadore and Gladys Oswald.
