Neil Joseph Schoelen was born Feb. 10, 1959, in Kingfisher to Edward J. Schoelen and Edna K. (Soudek) Schoelen.

He passed away on March 5, 2022.

Neil was a 1977 graduate of Kingfisher High School.

Following graduation, Neil moved to Stillwater where he worked with his older brother, Dennis, in a furniture store.

He returned to Kingfisher and began working in the oilfield, beginning as a pumper and retiring as a plunger lift salesman in 2018.

In 1982, he became a father for the first time to his son, Eric.

In 1984, Neil married Susan (Susie) Mathews.

For the second time, Neil became a father. This time to 7-year-old Brandon and 3-year-old Amanda.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Edna; brother, Dennis Schoelen; brothers-inlaw Chas Riggs and James Lombardo; and nephews Brian Schoelen and Brad Schoelen.

He is survived by his wife, Susie, of the home; sons Eric Schoelen of Elk City and Brandon (Regina) Forbes of Grand Island, Neb.; daughter Amanda (Aaron) Wiggins of Kingfisher; sisters Suzan Riggs and Penny Lombardo; brothers Norman (Bear) Schoelen and Terry (Marcy) Schoelen; and sister-in-law Edwina Schoelen.

His greatest achievement was being “Gpa” to his grandkids Mikayla, Annalee, Andrew, Anthony, Zulema, Brittany, Nick and Parker.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the Kingfisher Church of the Nazarene (414 W. Hill Drive) with Rev. Jeff Liles officiating.

Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home-Kingfisher.
