Nelson Henderson Sickler passed peacefully from this earthly life at home with his beloved wife on Aug. 17, 2021.

Nelson was born on Aug. 27, 1950, in Oklahoma City, to Edward and Alice (Quinn) Sickler, of El Reno. He spent his childhood and early adult life in El Reno.

Following school, Nelson went to work for Rock Island as a maintenance hand in the rail yard.

Following the closing of RI trains, Nelson and his father operated a lawn service company. Later, he finished his career working for Walmart in Kingfisher for 17 years.

In 1981, he met Kathryn Benda through their pastor at Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kingfisher.

They were married on July 24, 1982, in the church where they met and made their home in Kingfisher. They had recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. Nelson and Kathy loved

Nelson and Kathy loved to travel and made several trips to Disney World and also traveled to Mount Rushmore, Grand Canyon, Branson and numerous other places.

After suffering from some serious health issues, Nelson retired and has been lovingly cared for by his wife for several years preceding his death.

Nelson is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of the home; a sister, Barbara Kelly, and her husband, Lauren; six nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom and David; one sister, Mary Ellen; and one nephew, Shaun.

Services were Friday, Aug. 20, at Compassion Church in Oklahoma City. Burial followed at Cashion Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
