Rebecca Coleen Bowen McCurdy was born on Nov. 3, 1992, in Pauls Valley to Diana (Pendley) Bowen and Richard Bowen. She passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the age of 28 years.

Rebecca graduated from Paoli High School in 2011 and obtained an associate of arts in general education from Oklahoma City Community College and was working toward her bachelor’s in political science. She married Brandon McCurdy on June 22, 2012, and from this marriage resulted two beautiful children: Brandon “Bear” Michael and Reagan Alexandria-Jane McCurdy. Brandon’s job as a lineman brought the family to Kingfisher in 2016 where Rebecca was a stay-at-home mom until both children were in school. She then went to work for a time at Heritage Pharmacy and then Kingfisher Dental Designs. She was a true light at both places.

Rebecca had a warmth and a genuine glow about her that was infectious. If there was a time when she wasn’t laughing or nurturing someone, she was singing. She had the voice of an angel and she was not afraid to use it. She led praise and worship at Kingfisher First Baptist Church and truly blessed this church with her gifts. She could also play piano, guitar and mandolin, but would often joke that she was too klutzy to play and sing at the same time so she chose to utilize her voice and let Brandon take care of the instrumentation. Some very lucky locals were also able to learn to play the piano under her guidance.

In 2021, Brandon’s lineman job relocated the family to Stillwater where Rebecca resumed her stay-at-home mom duties coupled with fulltime teacher duties where both children continued to excel and grow. She took the neighborhood mom role very seriously by always keeping snacks on hand and making sure there were activities for the kids to enjoy in a fun environment. She was also a very experienced cook; she did not shy away from the butter and everything she whipped up was amazing. Rebecca always had a smile on her face and brought joy and laughter to those around her. You never knew if she was going to be sweet and bring home baked goods or if she was going to be mischievous and remove all the batteries from your remotes. She kept everyone on their toes in the best possible way. The void she is leaving behind is vast and wide and our lives will be forever changed without her with us.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her dad, Richard Bowen.

She is survived by her husband, Brandon of the home; her mom, Diana Bowen; sister Sherri McCalister Snell and her husband Jake; brother Richard Bowen II and wife Halie; twin siblings Grace and Colt Bowen; brother Kenneth Ray McCalister Jr.; brother Leland Hays; sister Linda Bosworth; brother Lendall Hays; brother Aaron Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
