Wanda Castonguay Crist, 85, passed away Sept. 2, 2026, in Spring, Texas.

Born to Arthur and Ernestine Castonguay, Wanda grew up in the Omega and Kingfisher communities. She attended Omega school and played basketball during its memorable 1955 state championship season.

Wanda’s lifelong love story with James Arden “Jim” Crist began in Omega.

Schoolmates from kindergarten through high school, they became sweethearts and were married for 62 years. Their wedding photographs are preserved in an Oklahoma historical archive.

Together they raised three sons — Ricky, Loney and Doug — with family always at the center of Wanda’s life.

While raising their boys in Plano, Wanda enjoyed a successful career as a realtor.

Later, in League City, she became a mentor and trainer, helping others build confidence and recognize their potential.

In retirement, Wanda and Jim settled on Richland- Chambers Reservoir on the water she loved before later moving to McKinney.

Wanda and Jim treasured their grandchildren, from summers making chocolate ice cream to visits as far as Australia and Scotland.

They also enjoyed returning to Plano’s Clark Stadium, where they had cheered on their sons and later a grandson.

In her final years, time with her two great-grandsons brought Wanda special joy.

Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim; her parents; and siblings Betty, Raymond and Max.

She is survived by her sister, Wilma; her sons and their families — Ricky and Kimberly, Loney and Terri and Doug and Marisa — along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.

Wanda’s legacy lives on through the family she loved and the many people she encouraged, guided and believed in.

The family plans to have a Celebration of Life service in Houston on Nov. 21.
