Katherine Ann Schroeder, of Okarche, passed away on Sept. 5, 2026, at the age of 84.

She passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kathy was born on Aug. 17, 1942, to Fonda and Violet Turner in Wichita, Kan.

She moved often as a child, but everywhere she went, she made lasting and memorable friendships.

As luck would have it, she wound up in Oklahoma for her senior year of high school where her classmates lovingly nicknamed her “Motormouth.”

That sums her up quite nicely.

She never met a stranger and was often drawn to help those less fortunate, once stopping to give a hitchhiker her last $5.

She gave generously of her time to her family, but her most rewarding role in life was helping care for her special grandson, Kaleb.

She often said he was the reason God put her on this earth. Her faith wasn’t just spoken; it was lived out daily through her kindness, honesty and devotion to helping others.

We don’t think anyone enjoyed the holidays more than Mom. She spent countless hours creating beautiful cross-stitch pieces for the special people in her life.

She gave so much of herself to each of us — her time, her wisdom, her laughter and her unconditional love. She will be impossible to forget because she gave so much.

She was no stranger to hard work. Her many roles included working at Baptist Hospital in the 1960s, volunteering and working at her children’s schools in the 1970s, working for a CPA and Hertz in the 1980s, and spending the final 30 years of her career in the abstracting and title business at Oklahoma City Abstract & Title Co.

She is survived by her daughter, Christi (Clayton) Hufnagel of Okarche; her son, Gregory (Tricia) Schroeder of Okarche; her grandchildren, Haley (Zac) Maass, Caitlin (Brandon) Onley, Kyle Schroeder and Kaleb Schroeder, all of Okarche; six great-grandchildren whom she adored, Kennedy, Hadley and Beckett Maass, and Ellie, Graham and Hudson Onley; and her lifelong friend, Allen Schroeder.

She is also survived by her nephews, Gary Turner (Heather) of Olathe, Kan., Scott Turner (Jennifer) of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Chris Klingman (Jennifer) of Edmond and Shawn Turner (A.J.) of Yukon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, J.D. Turner, Gary Turner and LeRoy Turner; and her beloved grandson, Eric Hufnagel.

The funeral was 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home of El Reno.

Burial followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Center of Family Love or Holy Trinity Catholic School in Okarche.
