Patricia Lynn Schwarz went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 3, 2026, with her loving husband by her side and surrounded by loved ones.

Patricia was born May 12, 1948, in Hawaii.

She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Salina, Kan., in 1966. She then went on to St. Mary College, where she met the love of her life.

Patricia and Max were married on July 27, 1968, and just recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with five boys: Dan, Dave, Steve, Jim and Joe.

Patricia was a homemaker where she stayed home to care for her boys. Once their youngest son graduated from high school, Patricia decided to go back to school to complete her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2000 and then taught at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Okarche until she retired in 2010.

She was a fabulous cook. A treasured family tradition that the family still holds true to this day is Sunday dinner at Max and Patricia’s home.

One of her family favorites, especially among the grandkids, is her famous sweet and sour pork, a Hawaiian recipe that will always be cherished. And you can believe that the grandkids race to be able to get seconds before all the food is gone.

Her greatest blessing was her family. Her boys were her pride and joy and being their mother was one of the greatest gifts of her life.

Though they loved to torment her in their own playful and loving way, there was nowhere else she would rather be than surrounded by her family. She lived to be a wife and mother and she found her greatest happiness in the simple everyday moments spent with the people she loved most.

Nothing gave her more joy than rocking her grandbabies to sleep, holding them close as they crawled up into her lap to read them a book, cheering them on at their ball games. She treasured every hug, every laugh, every conversation and every moment together.

Not only did she teach them to love deeply through her words and her actions, but most importantly, she taught them about Jesus and the importance of having faith. Her love for her family was unwavering and unconditional and she made sure that they always knew they were loved, supported and prayed for.

Anyone who knew Patricia knew how passionate she was for her faith. Her love and devotion to her Catholic faith was unmeasured.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche where she served on the Altar Society, became a regent for the Catholic Daughters and later served as the state regent.

Her faith was not simply something she practiced on Sundays; it was woven into every part of her life. She found great comfort and strength in her relationship with God and was never shy about sharing her faith with those around her.

She believed deeply in the power of prayer and made it a priority to pray for her family, friends and those who needed it most. Her faith was evident in the way she loved and served others.

Patricia was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer an encouraging word or just simply be there if someone needed her. Through her involvement in the church and Catholic Daughters, she formed lasting friendships and touched countless lives through her services.

She took great pride in her opportunities she had to serve her church and community and she considered it an honor and privilege.

Her love for the Lord was something she hoped to pass on to her children and grandchildren. She taught them the importance of faith, prayer, kindness and trusting in God.

Her greatest desire was that her family would know the same love and peace that she found through her faith. Patricia lived her life as a testament to the belief that faith is meant to be lived through love, service and compassion.

Her devotion to God and her commitment to serving others will remain an important part of the legacy she leaves behind.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Wes and Dorothy Olmstead.

She is survived by her loving husband Max Schwarz of Okarche; her five sons, Dan Schwarz and wife Judy of Oklahoma City, Dave Schwarz and wife Toni of Oklahoma City, Steve Schwarz and wife Morgan of Okarche, Jim Schwarz and wife Jenny of Okarche, Fr. Joe Schwarz of Guymon; 10 grandchildren, Justin Schwarz, Katy Schwarz, Stewart Simpson and wife Jessica, Sam Simpson, Taylin Schwarz, Max Schwarz, Belle Schwarz, Lizzy Schwarz, Lauren Schwarz and Leo Schwarz; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Simpson and Eleanor Simpson; three brothers, Mike Olmstead and wife Lisa of Seattle, Wash., Fr. Daryl Olmstead of Russell, Kan., and Robert Olmstead and wife Windy of Great Falls, Mont.

All who knew and loved Patricia are invited to join and celebrate her life with a Wake service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, and the funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday Sept. 10, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Okarche with Fr. Zak Boazman and Fr. Joe Schwarz officiating.

She will be taken to her final resting place at Okarche Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Huber- Benson Funeral Home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Patricia’s name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

“Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
