Dover hits 17 3’s in win over Pioneer

Dover rebounded from its first loss of the season to down Pioneer-Pleasant Vale 71-25 last Tuesday.

The Longhorns were coming off a defeat to Waukomis on Pioneer’s home court the previous Friday, but returned home for the dominant win over the Mustangs.

Casen Buck scored 27 and the Longhorns made 17 3-pointers as they improved to 21-1. Buck nailed six of those treys, including three in the first quarter as Dover raced to a 25-7 lead.

It grew to 44-11 by halftime as Kyler Williams made two of Dover’s five second-quarter 3-pointers.

Williams made three treys for all 9 of his points.

Daxx Compton also buried three from long range and scored 15.

Brennan Fletcher knocked down a trio of them as well and added 11 points.

Lady Longhorns top Cimarron

The Dover and Cimarron girls were able to squeeze in an extra game on Monday and it allowed the Lady Longhorns to snap a six-game losing skid.

Dover got big first quar- ters from Remi Goodwin and Emerson Belt to kickstart a 60-23 victory on the road.

Belt scored 12 and Goodwin 10 in those first eight minutes as their team jumped to a 28-3 lead.

It was 38-8 by halftime and continued to grow.

Goodwin eventually scored 21.

Belt finished with 15. The Lady Longhorns also got 10 from Bella Perdue and 10 from Presley Squires.

Returning to its regular schedule on Tuesday, Dover was dealt a 58-30 home loss by Pioneer.

The Lady Longhorns were without Goodwin and fell behind 16-5 early.

The offense sparked in the second and third quarters and Dover was within striking distance, but the Mustangs closed out with a 17-2 run.

Belt scored 9 to lead the Lady Longhorns. Alexca Caldwell and Squires scored 6 apiece.
