Visit to Geary results in sweep for Okarche basketball teams

Defensive clamps were put on Geary last week as Okarche grabbed its second win of the season.

The Lady Warriors forced more than two dozen turnovers Friday as they beat Geary 62-27 on the road.

Okarche enters the Thanksgiving break with a 2-1 mark and returns to action Tuesday at home against Coyle.

On top of the turnovers, Geary had almost exclusively empty possessions in the first half as the Lady Bison were held to three field goals and 14.3 percent shooting.

That helped Okarche get out to a 19-2 lead in the first quarter and 32-6 advantage by halftime.

Katie Parham did a big chunk of that damage as she poured in 14 of her game-high 17 points by half. She had 10 in the first quarter alone.

Kate Baustert heated up in the second half as she made 3 of 4 3-point attempts on her way to 11 points.

Harper White added eight points. Nine Lady Warriors scored overall.

Warriors continue early domination of foes Three games in and Okarche is still untested.

The Warriors got their third consecutive blowout last Friday as they handed host Geary a 78-22 defeat.

Okarche has beaten its foes by an average of 53 points at this point.

As with the other two, Okarche started its fury early as it got out to a 26-8 lead, then extended it to 49-17 by halftime.

The Bison were held to 20 percent shooting (8 of 40) and committed 45 turnovers in th egame.

Those miscues led to 33 Okarche points.

The Warriors also dominated the boards by winning the rebounding battle 53-33.

Jett Mueggenborg played a big role in that as he grabbed 15 rebounds to go with his game-high 22 points.

Okarche also got 16 points and six rebounds from Easton Roby.

Macklin Smith added 10 points while Ethany Kirby nailed three 3-pointers for his nine points.
