High school careers wrap up at All-State
COUNTYALL-STATE – The Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State games wrapped up Thursday night with the annual football game held at Chad Richison Stadium at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. It capped a week full of events that included a number of athletes and coaches from Kingfisher County: (1) Kingfisher’s Abbie Myers was named the MVP for the Large West in the girls basketball game. She scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in her team’s win. (2) Aliana Lawson of Lomega had 6 points and 4 boards as her Small West team was defeated by the Small East. (3 and 4) Easton Roby and Jett Mueggenborg of Okarche played together one final time as they represented the Small West in the boys basketball game. (5) They were joined by Cashion’s Parker Mitchell on the Small West squad. (6) That team was coached by Aaron West of Okarche (right) and Billy Karr of Chattanooga.
West has coached Okarche (and Mueggenborg and Roby) to the last three Class A state championships. Karr guided the Warriors to the state tournament and was a longtime assistant under West’s father, the late Ray West, at Okarche. The Small West was defeated by the Small East after Dale’s Denton Forsythe made two free throws in the closing moments of the game. (7) Kingfi sher’s Kasen Blair put on the pads one final time as he suited up for the West in the football game. The fouryear starter is pictured with KHS head coach Reagan Roof prior to the game. (8) Kingfisher’s Brayden Kochenower was the Small West’s representative at 144 pounds in the wrestling matches held at Edmond North High School. Kochenower placed third in that weight class at the 2026 Class 3A state tournament and was a two-time state placer for the Jackets.
