OSSAA releases prelim ADM numbers
The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association on Thursday released the tenative numbers that are used to determine classifications in various sports.
The OSSAA uses schools’ average daily membership (ADM) to set those classes. Some of them such as basketball - are done annually while others (football, for example) go in two-year cycles.
The numbers released by the OSSAA last week were tentative as schools are given a period of time to dispute them.
Once finalized, they must be approved by the OSSAA’s board of directors before being implemented.
However, the numbers do give a glimpse at where the enrollments for some schools are headed.
ADM’s being used for the 2026-27 school year are based off of a school’s enrollment for grades 9-12 in 2025-26.
Some variations can be attributed to a particularly larger or smaller class having graduated the year before and a bigger or smaller freshman class taking its place.
However, there are some schools that are continuing trends.
Cashion, for example, had a tentative ADM of 228.57.
That’s up more than 16 students from the 212.17 that was used for last year’s classification and continues the district’s trend of seeing that number rise.
Cashion is now just two students below Hennessey, which has a 2026-27 ADM of 230.54.
It was 240.09 a year ago. That gap between the schools has been narrowing the last few years, which was indicated last year when it was learned the two would both be in Class 2A-II football this season (and in the same district).
Also trending up this year is Dover.
The tenative 2026-27 ADM is 67.32, which is more than five students bigger than last year’s figure of 61.93.
Last year, Lomega had a larger ADM (70.70) than Dover.
However, this year, Lomega’s has dropped to 61.32.
Also seeing its number drop was Okarche.
The district had an ADM of 148.21 last year, but this year’s tentative number is 143.5.
Kingfisher’s number saw the second-largest jump in the county.
The ADM for 2026-27 is 400.35, which is nearly nine more than the 391.78 from a year ago.
