Wrestlers return from Wyoming camp

Kingfisher wrestling made the trek back from Wyoming Cowboy Camp all day Wednesday, but not before a pit stop to take in the scenic mountain views in Colorado.

Head boys wrestling coach Steven Wilson sent pics of the wrestlers at various stops along the route, but said the previous four days were what made the trip special.

“There were tons of great competition for the Yellowjackets,” said Wilson.

They took part in 10 duals throughout the fourday camp and on Wednesday, before heading home, participated in 12-man brackets.

Senior Jaxon Sheppard finished third in his bracket.

Wilson said the camp featured teams from all over the northwest part of the country, including Wyoming, Oregon, California, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and North Dakota.

Some 28 wrestlers made the trip to Laramie, Wyo.

In his previous five years of taking grapplers to camps, Wilson said the most he’d ever had was 14.

“It’s been great,” said Wilson. “The kids have all been very appreciative of the opportunity to take this trip.”
