Hennessey’s new mayor, Randy Bohnstedt, was unanimously elected in a 5-0 vote by the Board of Trustees during its meeting last Tuesday at Town Hall.“I am truly honored and humbled to accept the position of mayor for the town of Hennessey,” Bohnstedt told the Times & Free Press Thursday.

City commission receives solid report from auditor

The City of Kingfisher is “sitting really well” financially, according to its auditor.That statement came from Laura Morgan, a senior accountant with CBEW Professional Group, LLP, the accounting firm that performed an audit for the 2024 fiscal year.

Recent local traffic accidents

The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department: April 10, 12:20 p.m. - At U.S. 81 and Miles Avenue.A 16-year-old female, Kingfisher, driving a 2020 Toyota Prius, was eastbound on West Miles Avenue.

Book club meets next Monday

Kingfisher Bookcase Review Club will meet Monday, May 19, at the Farm Bureau Insurance Building, 117 W. Sheridan Ave., in Kingfisher.Tracy Deshazo will review the book “Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate.Lunch will be catered and is $15 per person.The program will follow.

County students earn OSU ag scholarships

Several Kingfisher County students were honored by the Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture with academic scholarship support for the 2025-2026 academic year.The scholarships were awarded at the 2025 Scholarship and Awards banquet, hosted by the Ferguson College last month.

American Legion honors top officers, fireman

Kingfisher’s Keith Lowry- Henry Ellyson Post 5 of the American Legion once again honored three of the best local public servants.The local post recognized Tyler Girard, Justin Trumbley and Charles Blackburn.The Kingfisher Fire Department’s Girard was named Firefighter of the Year.
