This month in Washington, on top of participating in some meaningful committee hearings, I had a longstanding priority of mine signed into law that will protect Oklahoma farmers from hostile foreign investment.In Oklahoma, I traveled around the state for some important meetings and events.

It’s that time of year when negotiations between the House and the Senate begin to break down. It inevitably happens once bills cross to the opposite chamber. It’s an easy way to try to force the hand of a perceived opponent if you can hold their legislation hostage until you get your demands met.

 Members of the Oklahoma Senate have approved legislation that would allow voters to reform Oklahoma’s judicial-selection process.The proposed state constitutional amendment would eliminate the secretive Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) and instead adopt the model established in the U.S.

The filing period for four Kingfisher County offices began Wednesday and all but one have had races develop at press time of this edition.As of 8:30 a.m. Friday, four people have filed to run for county sheriff: Jonathan Riedlinger, Aaron Pitts, Jeremiah Loper and Mike Shults.

The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department: January 24, 1:56 p.m. - At U.S. 81 and Robberts Avenue.Edi Lopez Aboite, 23, Dover, driving a 2019 Ford F150, was southbound in the outside lane of U.S.

Kingfisher was severe weather central for a short period of time Monday.Severe storms that made their way through the state dropped what appeared to be a small tornado southeast of Kingfisher about 5:40 p.m.
