Members of the Okarche High School speech team brought home the second- place sweepstakes trophy for Class 3A from Marlow on Nov. 19.Lawton Academy of Arts and Sciences won the tournament with Hennessey High School taking third.

The Kingfisher 4-H Club had a program honoring local veterans on Nov. 10. Club members recited a poem, sang and signed “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and presented certificates to the veterans in attendance. The Kingfisher High School honors choir performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.

Strong sales tax revenue heading into holiday shopping

Kingfisher, Hennessey, Dover, Loyal and Okarche all had increases in their sales tax checks, according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.Loyal had the largest percentage increase, 252.4%.Kingfisher County also received a substantial increase, 55.3%, a reflection of increased oil field activity.

Kingfisher County Sheriff Dennis Banther said authorities had released the scene near Lacey Tuesday morning where four people were confi rmed killed and another seriously injured after a shooting Sunday at the marijuana grow facility located there.
