Okarche is academic bowl champ

STATE CHAMPS – Okarche Superintendent Josh Sumrall will tell you his students are the best and the brightest. They backed him up last weekend. Okarche emerged as the Class 2A academic bowl state champion Saturday after a day of competition at Rose State Community College.

Livestock, buckles & more in store

Thousands of hours of feeding and grooming prize livestock will go on display next week at the 96th annual Kingfisher County Spring Livestock Show.4-H and FFA members from Kingfisher, Cashion, Dover, Hennessey, Lomega and Okarche will be competing for top prizes at the three-day event.

KPS to hire new high school principal

All current Kingfisher Public Schools principals were rehired for the 2026-27 school year and the board of education got the ball rolling to hire another.Board members on Monday night voted unanimously to open the position of high school principal for the next school year.

The Kingfisher Police Department has investigated or responded to the following reports:December 24 - Possession of dangerous drugs prohibited-marijuana. Officer Aubrey Massey said in his report that he observed a vehicle with a defective headlight on U.S. 81 and initiated a traffic stop.

Traffic accidents

The following traffic accidents are being investigated by the Kingfisher Police Department:December 22, 9:30 a.m. At 1615 S. Main St. — Alondra Villalobos, 27, Hennessey, driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, was eastbound in the Braum’s parking lot.

Four Kingfisher High School seniors were guests recently at a meeting of the Kingfisher Rotary Club.Joining the local civic group were Amya Reyes, Roberto Paredes, Gracie Fuksa and Sara Farris.Reyes is the daughter of Brandy Lucero and Christopher Reyes.
