KPS choirs prove to be outstanding achievers

Kingfisher junior high and high school choir members had a busy - and important - stretch of competitions earlier this month. For some, the contests aren’t finished. Junior high and high school performers took part March 7 in the OSSAA’s district solo and ensemble competition at Bethany.

Fine Arts Festival is next week

Since 1947, students have been putting their creative talents on display at the Kingfisher County Fine Arts Festival and this year is no exception. Celebrating its 77th anniversary, the festival will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, March 31 and April 1, at Kingfisher and Hennessey.

Post 5 honors county’s top first responders

A meeting Sunday of the Keith Lowry-Henry Ellyson Post 5 of the American Legion served double duty. Local veterans and guests not only celebrated the 107th birthday of the American Legion at the Kingfi sher Elks Lodge, but also recognized first responders from across the county.

Lenten services wrapping up

The annual Lenten Community Service series sponsored by the Kingfisher Ministerial Alliance run through next week. Each of the two remaining services, which includes the one scheduled this week, will be held each Wednesday at noon, with a meal to follow at 12:30 p.m.

Ghost towns of tomorrow

As a kid my grandparents took my brother and me fishing every summer and the days we didn’t fish were reserved for going to ghost towns.
