Livestock show begins Sunday

Thousands of hours of feeding and grooming prize livestock will go on display beginning Sunday, Feb. 20 when the Kingfisher spring livestock show opens at the county fairgrounds in Kingfisher.

County GOP meeting set

Kingfisher County Republicans will meet at 7 p.m., Feb. 17, at the InterBank community room.The meeting is open to any registered Republican voters who reside in the county.Officers will be elected and plans made for the upcoming county, state and federal elections.

Kingfisher Trails Inc. is seeking public input on the master plan for the new trail segment from the Sam Walton Plaza to Briscoe Park.A public meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Visitors Center.

Football hazing suit moved to fed court

A lawsuit alleging the Kingfisher High School football program practices and promotes a culture of hazing and abuse will now be decided in federal court after the school ’s attorney filed to move it to that venue.

Pitts named interim HPD police chief

Hennessey Police Sgt. Aaron Pitts has been named Interim Police Chief effective Feb. 25 after the resignation of Police Chief Ed Cangiano.The chief’s last day is Feb. 24, said Town Administrator Tiffany Tillman Saturday during a Hennessey town board planning meeting.
